Woo Hoo It’s Wednesday

Last Sunday, I picked the theme of gratitude for the hymns and special music. One morning I walked outside, the sun was shining, the air was cool, the birds were singing, and I was in awe of God’s creation. As I paused to take it all in, I felt so close to God. My heart overflowed, and I found myself simply saying, “Thank you, Lord.”

Moments like these happen every day. A sunrise. A gentle breeze. A kind word from a friend. The food on our table. Yet often, we are too busy or too distracted to notice the beauty and blessings God pours into our lives.

It made me think about how God must feel when we don’t acknowledge His gifts. Imagine giving someone a gift that you picked out with great care, knowing they would love it, only to have them open it and set it aside without a word of thanks. It would sting, wouldn’t it? In the same way, when we fail to thank God, we miss an opportunity to deepen our relationship with Him and to bring joy to His heart.

Scripture reminds us, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Gratitude is not just good manners, it is an act of worship. When we give thanks, we acknowledge God as the source of every blessing, big and small. Gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack to the abundance of what we already have.

So today, take a moment to pause. Notice the gifts around you, the beauty of creation, the people you love, the provisions God has made, even the challenges that grow your faith. Whisper a simple, heartfelt, “Thank You, Lord.”

Gratitude draws us closer to God and softens our hearts to see His hand at work in all things. Let’s never take His gifts for granted, but instead live with a spirit of thanksgiving every day.
