Woo Hoo It’s Wednesday

Life has a way of surprising us. One moment we’re cruising along, making plans and enjoying the journey. Then suddenly a bump in the road. It may come in the form of a health diagnosis, the loss of a loved one, financial struggles, broken relationships, disappointment, or simply a period of time that feels harder than expected.

None of us enjoys the bumps. We often ask, “Why is this happening?” or “Lord, when will this end?” Yet God’s Word reminds us that difficulties are not evidence of His absence. Often, they become opportunities to experience His faithfulness in deeper ways.

James writes:

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” (James 1:2-3)

Joy doesn’t come from the trial itself. It comes from knowing that God is working in us through it. Every bump in the road can strengthen our faith, deepen our dependence on Him, and shape us into the people He has called us to be.

So how does God want us to handle life’s bumps?

First, trust Him instead of panicking. Our first reaction is often fear, but God invites us to place our confidence in Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding.

Second, keep moving forward. A bump may slow us down, but it doesn’t have to stop us. God rarely shows us the entire journey at once. He simply asks us to take the next faithful step.

Third, look for God’s purpose. Romans 8:28 assures us that God works all things together for good for those who love Him. Even when we cannot see His hand, we can trust His heart.

Finally, remember that you’re never traveling alone. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you.” God’s presence is His greatest promise. He walks beside us through every detour, every pothole, and every mountain pass.

Looking back over life, we often discover that the bumps we wished away became the places where we grew the most. They taught us patience, compassion, humility, and a deeper reliance on Christ. They became testimonies of God’s faithfulness.

When you hit a bump in the road, just keep shine, shine, shining!
