I know the next sentence is going to elicit an “Amen” from my parents, but I am going to say it anyway. I am hard-headed! What does the Bible say about worrying? Hello….
Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
All the worry about my conference last week was for naught. Everything went smoothly except I got sick when I came home. (It happens every year.)
One of the issues I talk a great deal about in my role at work is trust. Last week showed me once again that I need to give my concerns to the Lord, and then Trust Him to take care of them. We waste so much energy worrying about things AFTER we give them to him. It steals our joy. It makes us short-tempered. Did I say it wastes energy that could be better spent on something else? He wants us to trust Him. I want to trust Him!
The words to the hymn Trust and Obey are:
Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Trust and Obey. I’m going to work on it! How about you?
Shine, Shine, Shine!
