This Sunday we will light the JOY candle in our advent wreath. How appropriate that the ensemble will be presenting their musical that day. Music sure does bring me joy! Joy is at the heart of Christmas. Not the joy that depends on perfect plans or busy calendars, but the deep, steady joy that came the night Jesus was born.
The angel said to the shepherds:
“I bring you good news of great joy for all people.”
— Luke 2:10
This joy is for you. Right in the middle of whatever this season looks like. It’s not tied to circumstances but to a Savior who came to be with us. In His presence, Scripture says, there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).
As we walk through this week of Advent, may we look for joy in simple moments: a kind word, a quiet prayer, a familiar song, a reminder of God’s faithfulness. Let that joy fill your heart so you can Shine, Shine, Shine!
Our world needs us!
