Don had another great sermon Sunday. He said Thanksgiving is not a holiday, it is a way of life. When we pause to give thanks, we realign our focus. It is when we stop to give thanks that we recognize God’s steady hand and faithful presence in every minute of every day.
Scripture reminds us: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Don pointed out that Paul doesn’t say give thanks for all circumstances, but in all circumstances. I thought hard about this. Giving thanks in ALL circumstances can lift our eyes above what feels heavy and remind us that God is working, even when we can’t see it yet.
Think about the moments of this past year:
· The prayers God answered.
· The doors He opened.
· The comfort He provided in difficult times.
· The strength He gave when you felt weary.
· The people He used to bless you.
Every good gift has His fingerprints on it.
James 1:17 says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” Even the small, everyday blessing like a beautiful sunrise, laughter, a kind word, are reminders of His grace.
So today, the day before Thanksgiving, take a moment to pause. Breathe deeply. Reflect. And offer thanks, not because life is perfect, but because God is good. SO good!
Happy Thanksgiving! I am grateful for each of you.
Shine, Shine, Shine!
