Happy Wednesday!
Today at noon, I will be hosting a webinar for ALL the newly elected school board members in Florida. I have been meeting monthly with those who were fortunate enough to win their seat in August. With the addition of the folks elected last week, there are 93 newly elected school board members this year which is a much larger number than normal. I believe many of the people who put themselves out there to serve chose not to run again. It has been very ugly in many of our school districts these past few years.
It is now my job to offer professional development and support for these new members as well as those who have maintained their seat. I am very blessed because all the team members who work with me are Christians. I believe we have a distinct advantage because we have common beliefs. We can pray for our members and for the work we do with our members. I believe it makes a difference.
Why do I bring this up? Don said something in his message Sunday that really hit home with me. He said he was concerned because we pray for the health of people and their illnesses yet tend to forget about the other needs people may have. How powerful could it be if we prayed for the other needs we might have. We could pray for Missy and her work with the students at Newberry High School. We could pray for Becki as she meets and greets thousands of people a week. We could pray that our neighbors would see Jesus in all of us.
I am not saying that prayers for those hurting and ill are not important. You bet they are! I think it is incumbent upon us to make sure that is not all we are praying for. We can lift one another up and pray for salvation, wisdom, patience and so many other things that people might be needing but think are inconsequential.
If you have something you want us to pray for, let us know. We are here to lift each other up and help each other. The better we are, the better we can make a difference.
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matt. 18:19–20.)
Pray, Pray, Pray!
Shine, Shine, Shine!
