Some days, hope comes easily. Other days, I have to ask God to help me hold on to it. When life feels heavy and I can’t see what’s ahead, I’m grateful that hope doesn’t depend on having everything figured out. It comes from the God who is with me right now.
Romans 15:13 calls Him “the God of hope” and asks Him to fill us so that we may overflow with hope. I love that word, overflow. God knows we need hope for ourselves, and He can give us enough to share with someone else, too.
The Bible calls hope “an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” (Hebrews 6:19 NIV). An anchor doesn’t make the storm disappear. It helps us hold steady while the storm passes. I’ve had times when I wished God would change my circumstances right away. Sometimes He does. Sometimes He gives me the strength to take the next step while I wait.
If you’re waiting on an answer to prayer or wondering how things will work out, I understand how tiring that can be. You don’t have to pretend you’re confident every minute. Tell God what’s on your heart. Ask Him for the hope you need today, even if all you can manage is a quiet, “Lord, help me trust You.”
My prayer is that the God of hope meets you in whatever you’re facing. May He steady your heart, remind you of His faithfulness, and fill you with hope that overflows into the lives of those around you.
Shine, Shine, Shine!
