Real or Fake
Out in front of our house are three white birds that each sit on their own thin plastic pole. My friend Betsy gave them to me before she passed away. She was amazed at how real they look when they move around. They were our housewarming gift.
Last week, as I looked out the window, a big white bird flew in and settled down right in front of my birds. It stood there, just staring at the other birds. Then it lifted its wings in an effort to get the attention of the other birds. When that didn’t work, our visitor did a few struts back and forth, but still nothing. Finally, after a while, it got the message and flew away. It didn’t realize that they were not real. I felt so sorry for the bird.
As I walked away, I thought, “Am I real?” When people meet Tina Pinkoson, are they seeing what I profess to believe?
The bird needed something from my fake birds, or it wouldn’t have joined them. Are there people in our lives who need something from us? Are we listening or just standing there looking at the ground?
Are you real?
Shine, Shine, Shine!
