Woo Hoo It’s Wednesday

A big thank you to those of you who prepared and set up for our July 4th celebration Sunday.  It was great to sit around the tables with my Covenant family eating hamburgers and hotdogs and watching you all go back for dessert two and three times. (Not that I was watching.)

I thought Don’s sermon was awesome as well. He hit the nail right on the head.

I had been troubled by the results of a recent poll. It said only 37% of those polled believe they live in a great country. At that point, I had to ask myself why, and what I came up with saddens me. This country is made up of millions of people and those people have turned away from what this country was founded on. Freedom and trust in God.

Like Don said, it is up to us to be the spark that lights the way for others. If we get complacent and think that we can’t make a difference we are not only letting God down, but also our fellow man. I was inspired!

The song Don ended with has always been one of my favorites. We sang it all the time in Youth Choir. Read the words below and be inspired. Be the spark.

Pass It On

It only takes a spark to get a fire going,

And soon all those around can warm up in its glowing;

That’s how it is with God’s Love,

Once you’ve experienced it,

Your spread the love to everyone

You want to pass it on.

What a wondrous time is spring,

When all the tress are budding

The birds begin to sing, the flowers start their blooming;

That’s how it is with God’s love,

Once you’ve experienced it.

You want to sing, it’s fresh like spring,

You want to pass it on.

I wish for you my friend

This happiness that I’ve found;

You can depend on God

It matters not where you’re bound,

I’ll shout it from the mountain top –

I want the world to know

The Lord of love has come to me

I want to pass it on.

Shine, Shine, Shine
