It’s Tuesday afternoon and I am writing my Wednesday message so it will be ready to be sent out Wednesday morning. I am flying to Kansas to attend a conference and stressing about getting everything done. I was also finding myself focusing on the horrible state of our world and it was bringing me down. The words in Jesus Callingearlier this week said:
“I want you to pray about world events and pursue peace as you are able. However, it’s crucial to recognize what you can change and what you cannot. Fretting about things that are beyond your control will drain your energy and discourage you. Instead of this hurtful focus, endeavor to fix your thoughts on Me. I am with you and for you. Delight yourself in Me! Remember that I am a God of justice and I know everything. Eventually I will right all wrongs. So be still in my presence, trusting in me with a steadfast heart while waiting for me to act.”
As a control freak, this reminded me that there are things that I cannot control. It is useless for me to spend time worrying or stressing about these things. (Easier said than done, I know.) The way I can effectively deal with it is to fix my thoughts on Him. He is the one in control. Staying close to Him, knowing He will right all wrongs in His time will give me peace and allow my light to shine.
I’m looking forward to learning with my colleagues and hopefully giving them a glimpse of Jesus. Not sure I will be back in time for church Sunday. If not, I will miss you!
