Scripture: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” — John 14:27
Every day we are reminded that our world is filled with uncertainty. Nations negotiate peace agreements while conflicts continue to simmer beneath the surface. Leaders make promises, markets react, and people wonder what tomorrow will bring. Even when progress is made, we know that human peace can be temporary and fragile.
Yet Jesus offers a different kind of peace.
The peace Christ gives is not dependent on circumstances. It is not tied to political agreements, economic stability, or the absence of conflict. His peace is rooted in His presence. While the world searches for peace through negotiations and treaties, Jesus invites us to find peace through trust.
The disciples understood chaos. They faced persecution, uncertainty, and fear. Yet Jesus spoke these words to them just before His arrest and crucifixion. The circumstances around them were about to become more chaotic than ever. Still, Jesus promised peace.
How is that possible?
Because biblical peace is not the absence of trouble; it is the presence of God in the middle of trouble. It is the assurance that God remains sovereign when the headlines are troubling, when relationships are strained, and when our future feels uncertain. Peace is not found by controlling our circumstances. Peace is found by trusting the One who controls all things. His peace calms anxious hearts, steadies troubled minds, and reminds us that no matter what happens around us, God is still in control.
