Woo Hoo it’s Wednesday

get so frustrated when I am in a spot where I don’t have a signal on my phone. It always seems to happen when I need to make an important call. There is one spot close to our house where my call drops every time.

The other day, it made me think about my relationship with God.

The wonderful thing about our Heavenly Father is that we never have to worry about His signal. There are no dead zones in heaven. There are no dropped calls. There is no buffering, no waiting, and no wondering if He can hear us. We have perfect service. And it comes with no cost. There are only two requirements: we must talk to God, and then we must listen.

If I’m honest, I’m pretty good at the talking part. I can bring God my requests, concerns, questions, and prayers without much difficulty. But listening? That’s where I struggle.

Oftentimes I pray and then immediately rush off to the next task. And then I fill every quiet moment with activity, The signal is strong, but I’m not paying attention. God is speaking through His Word, through His Spirit, through circumstances, but I am often too busy to hear Him. The problem isn’t on His end. The signal is strong. The challenge is whether I am listening.

Jeremiah 33:3 says  Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” God doesn’t leave us wondering if He will pick up the phone. He promises that He will answer. Not only that, but He promises to reveal “great and hidden things” that we would not know otherwise.

He offers wisdom when we are confused, peace when we are anxious, direction when we feel lost, and comfort when we are hurting.

There is so much to learn, so much peace to receive, and so much joy to gain if we will simply become better listeners.

Shine, Shine, Shine!
