Woo Hoo It’s Wednesday

I put the following in the bulletin this past Sunday.

A good friend of mine unexpectedly lost his wife. A couple months later we were golfing together, chatting about nothing. He asked what my dinner plans were and I told him wifey wanted my homemade chili and cornbread, but I didn’t feel like stopping at the store. We golfed a few more minutes when he quietly said, “Make the chili.”

It took me a few minutes to realize we were no longer talking about dinner. It was about going out of your way to do something for someone you love because at any moment they could unexpectedly be taken from you.

Next time someone you love wants you to go for a walk or watch a football game, or play a board game, or just put your phone down and give them your undivided attention, just do it.

“Make the chili.”

The following happened Monday:

Taylor County, Fla. (WCTV) – A crash took place in Taylor County Monday night, leaving one man dead after he was ejected from his vehicle, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash unfolded around 10 p.m. Monday, FHP wrote in a press release.

FHP said a 59-year-old Perry man was traveling north in a SUV on Beach Road when it crossed the center line into the southbound lane. A 36-year-old Steinhatchee man was traveling in a pickup truck in the southbound lane, at that time and veered off to the shoulder to avoid the crash.

The front of the SUV hit the front left of the pickup truck causing the 59-year-old driver to be ejected and the vehicle to flip onto its passenger side, according to the press release. The 36-year-old has minor injuries.

The 36-year-old is my son Kyle.

“Make the chili.”
