–Loved the message about being an encourager this past Sunday. I think we often forget the power of our words. I am so thankful for the encouragers in my life. They have truly made a difference in my life, and I am sure in the lives of many others.
As a Christian, being an encourager should be easy. If we are filled with His Light, then our goal each day is to share that light with others. As I was thinking about how I could be a better encourager, I thought I would make a list of things that I could do. (I love my lists. I especially love checking things off my list.)
How to be a Great Encourager
1. Smile at strangers. Point out what a beautiful day it is and tell them to enjoy it.
2. Give a compliment.
3. Write a card to someone who needs a lift.
4. Share with someone how they encourage you.
5. Share with someone what you like/appreciate/respect/enjoy about them.
6. Encourage them for any gifts and talents they have.
7. Give a call or send a text to someone and thank them for their example to you.
8. Acknowledge displays of excellence. For example, if you have a great server, tell them.
Encouraging people doesn’t have to be difficult, but it does take intentionality. It requires a certain mindset in the way we approach people. Christ-honoring encouragement flows from a transformed heart. Imagine the difference we can make by being encouragers. Let’s do it!
Shine, Shine, Shine!
