I hope that this finds each of you feeling sunny on a cloudy day. Looks as though we may be in for some nasty weather. As I was watching videos of the storm as it passed through Texas and Louisiana, I thought about how strong and powerful the storms are. And then I remembered the story in Matthew 8:23-27. If you recall, Jesus was on a boat with his disciples and a terrible storm came upon them. The disciples were stunned that Jesus could sleep through the storm because they just new they were going to die. Then in verse 26 Jesus got up, rebuked the winds and the waves and it was completely calm. Why did this story make into the gospels? In my simple mind the message is clear. No matter how severe the storms in our life are, there is nothing so great that He cannot put an end to it. He is omnipotent. All powerful.Tonight as the storms pass through, know that Jesus can calm them with mere words. Then think about the storms of your life and do as the disciples did. Tell Him you need him to get through. He has promised us He will.
