Woo Hoo It’s Wednesday

A friend of mine shared this quote with me, “The quality of our expectations determines the quality of our actions.” Andre Godin

Can I just say that I love this? I think it is very true, BUT, I also believe we need to be very careful with our expectations. Romans 3:23 reminds us that “we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

My 7-year-old granddaughter puts great pressure on herself not only in school, but any extra-curricular activity that she is involved in as well. When she falls short of her expectations for herself, she has a meltdown. (It isn’t pretty.)

I think we need to have high expectations for ourselves, but yet understand that we are human. We can’t do everything, we can’t be everywhere, and we can’t be the person everyone wants us to be. We just can’t. What we can do is our very best in all situations.

We probably all know of someone with the attitude, “Well, if I am a sinner, I can just go ahead and sin because He will forgive me.” That comes from someone with low expectations for him or herself and that is not what God deserves.

When we get up each morning, we need to have high expectations for ourselves because we are children of God, and that should affect our actions. We must remember that with His help we can achieve anything. We also must remember that every once in a while we are going to fall short of our expectations. We do not need to beat ourselves up. We simply need to keep moving forward. He knows our heart.

I am sure you can see that oftentimes my Wednesday messages are messages to myself. Things that need to hear. It is amazing how God will speak to me when I sit down and give Him the opportunity to do the talking. Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts with all of you.

Shine, Shine, Shine!
