We continually talk about how bad things are in our world now. I constantly remind myself that bad things have been happening on this earth since Adam and Eve shared an apple. One of the things that gives us that feeling of doom for our world is the news media. Bad news sells. Approximately 90% of all media news is negative. Networks aren’t going to spend time showing the good in this world, but we need to know it is there!
Think about it. Things were so bad at one point that God wiped out everything. All that was left was Noah, his family and 2 of every kind of animal. God was disgusted at how His people were behaving. You might ask; “Why doesn’t He wipe us all out now?” I think it is because He left his Holy Spirit within us so that we could fight the ugliness. We need to step up to the plate and help change the world for the better.
The saying in the book, the Energy Bus” keeps coming to mind. “Our positivity must be greater than the negativity of others.” Lend a helping hand, smile, be the light in the darkness that we are called to be.
If you know someone who is that light, who shines and makes a difference, give them some reinforcement. Be the fuel that keeps their light burning bright. You might even make them shine a little brighter.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV says, “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
