Woo Hoo it’s Wednesday

“Isn’t it a small world?” we often say when paths unexpectedly cross. Lee and I felt that truth firsthand while waiting for our flight in Orlando. As we were walking to our gate, we heard our names called.  Standing before us was a couple we hadn’t seen in quite some time. And as it turned out, they weren’t just passing through… they were on the same flight to Costa Rica. Of all the airports, all the gates, all the flights, there we were, together. What are the odds?

Moments like that remind us that while the world may feel small, our God is incredibly big.

In Costa Rica, that truth echoed everywhere we looked. In the lush green foliage, the gorgeous flowers, the astonishing diversity of animals, (yes, I did get to see a sloth) each one uniquely designed, and in the genuine kindness of people we encountered along the way. God’s fingerprints were everywhere. Creation itself testified to His creativity, and His attention to detail.

Scripture tells us, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it” (Psalm 24:1). The same God who orchestrates chance encounters in an airport is the God who paints rainforests, sustains wildlife, and places kindness in the hearts of strangers. Nothing is random with Him. What feels like coincidence to us is often divine intention at work behind the scenes.

So yes, the world can feel wonderfully small at times. But those moments point us to an even greater truth: we serve a God who is vast, intentional, creative, and present everywhere. And wherever we go, His handiwork and His heart are always on display.

The Covenant Choir will sing this week. I’m sorry I did not make it to church last week. I look forward to seeing you Sunday!

Shine, Shine, Shine!
