What a great day at Covenant Sunday. It is great to laugh, sing and worship together. I have a friend who is looking for a new church. She and her husband have moved away from Gainesville, and they need a new church home. Sunday, they visited a local church near their new home. This is the second time they have walked into a church, and NO ONE has greeted them. Not one person said hello. Can you imagine? If you can’t find friendliness in a church, where can you find it?
We are in church for an hour a week. The friendliness that we offer to our members and visitors must also be offered to those we come in contact with each day. Remember… WE are the church. If we don’t show God’s love to those around us, why in the world would they want to visit a church? Why would they want to find out more about God’s love for us?
1 Corinthians 3:9 ESV says,” For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” That reminds me of the words of a song we once sang in church.
I am the church! You are the church!
We are the church together!
All who follow Jesus,
all around the world!
Yes, we’re the church together!
The church is not a building;
the church is not a steeple;
the church is not a resting place;
the church is a people.
Let’s be the church! Share a smile with someone. Reach out!
Shine, Shine, Shine!
