Brrr. It’s cold!
I have been layering up since it starts off freezing in the morning and warms up in the afternoon. As I was contemplating the message for today, I thought about how often we put on layers, not for warmth but to hide our faults and shortcomings. For instance, we put on a layer of cheer to hide our sadness, we put on a layer of confidence when we are afraid, we put on a layer of calm when chaos is all around us. We put on layers to often-times try to impress others.
Today’s devotional said “I know every detail about you. You are never a number or statistic to Me; my involvement in your life is far more personal and intimate than you can comprehend.”
Later on it says; “The unshakeable knowledge that I love you forever provides a firm foundation for your life. It strengthens you so that you can follow Me faithfully and joyfully – proclaiming my praises as you journey through your life.”
No matter how many layers we put on, He sees our fears, our sadness, and our stresses. He knows, and yet He loves us anyway. I loved when Becky stood up in church and shared about her anxiety when she goes for a cancer checkup. Many of us can relate! Just going to the doctor causes anxiety. The church is a place where you peel back your layers and are loved unconditionally. I hope you feel that way about Covenant.
1 Peter 2:9 says; “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” He knows us. He loves us anyway. No need to layer up before God.
Shine, Shine, Shine!
