My friend Buddy Goodman gave me Tim Tebow’s “Mission Possible” devotional for Christmas. It is very different from Sarah Young’s devotionals but I am quite enjoying it. Monday, the last sentence in the devotion was just what I needed. It read, “Remember, living a mission-possible life is not about resting in your own confidence; it’s about growing your confidence in God.”
It is so easy to rest in our own confidence. WE believe we know the best way to handle a situation. WE believe we know what our future should look like. WE know how God should respond to our requests. WE just know. Jeremiah 17:7 says, “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.” Confidence in the Lord is built on trust. We must trust not only that He is omniscient, but that he is also omnipotent. HE knows, HE is all powerful and we must trust HIM as we live each day. The more we trust Him, the greater our confidence will be.
Philippians 1:6 reminds us “to be confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” As Tim Tebow repeatedly says in his book, “You were created with a purpose.” Have confidence and know that the Creator is in charge and He will help you live out His purpose as long as we put our trust in Him and work each day to have our confidence in Him grow.
