When looking for material for my weekly emails to new school board members, I came across this podcast by Daniele Pink. Daniel Pink is an American author who has written five New Your Times bestsellers. His books tend to focus on business, work, creativity, and behavior. When I watched this specific podcast, I immediately thought about my annual resolution concerning my Bible Study and prayer life. I know there is room for improvement. I get so frustrated with myself when I put my head on the pillow and realize I did not give the Lord the time He deserves
After watching the podcast, I immediately thought that I would follow the advice offered. Watch the 90 second podcast by clicking here. When I clicked off the podcast, I got pumped. I am a list keeper. I have a notebook and a list for each week. I LOVE putting a check mark next to a task completed. This is right up my alley! I thought I would get me a calendar just to mark the days off that I spent time with God. But then it hit me! With everything the Lord does for me, I should not have to be motivated to spend time reading the Bible and talking to Him by putting an “X” on a box. My motivation should come from a grateful heart. I should want the time with Him because of all He has done for me.
Daniel Pink’s suggestion might be helpful in some instances. Maybe crossing off all the days where I don’t eat sweets or when I drink 64 ounces of water. But if my heart is grateful, I will WANT to spend time with Him. The more time I spend with Him, the brighter I can SHINE!
Shine, Shine, Shine!
