Woo Hoo It’s Wednesday

I was not in church on the 28th of December and I enjoyed reading Ron’s summary of Don’s sermon. I was struck by the timeliness of that message for me. If you were looking to set New Year’s Resolutions, these three simple steps seem to be able to make a big difference in how you live your life. He suggested we:

1.Take one day at a time

2. Move forward and don’t dwell on the past

3. Keep going

Life has a way of feeling overwhelming when we try to carry too much at once. Yesterday’s regrets, tomorrow’s worries, and today’s responsibilities can pile up until we feel paralyzed.

Jesus tells us, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34). God meets us in the present. When we take life one day at a time, we learn to trust that His grace is sufficient for this moment, this decision, this step.

Taking one day at a time also means releasing what’s behind us. We all carry moments we wish we could redo, words we regret, choices we’d change, times we’d rather forget. But Scripture calls us forward, not backward. “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal…” (Philippians 3:13–14). Dwelling on the past keeps us stuck; God’s forgiveness and redemption set us free to move forward.

And sometimes, moving forward doesn’t feel brave, it just feels persistent. Keep going. Even when progress is slow. Even when the path is unclear. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). Faithfulness is often found in the quiet decision to take the next step, trusting that God is still at work. We just keep going.

So today, don’t carry tomorrow. Don’t relive yesterday. Take this day as it comes. Move forward in grace. And when the journey feels long, remember you’re not walking alone. Keep going. God isn’t finished yet.
