Let There Be Light!

Sometimes you find something that is so good that you have to share it with someone. I got behind on my devotions (oops) and when I read the one from September 10th I thought I have got to share this Covenant. This was in Sarah Young’s “Jesus Always” devotional. Remember, her devotions are written as though Jesus himself is talking to us.

“As the world grows increasingly dark, remember that you are the light of the world. Don’t waste energy lamenting over bad things which you have no control over. Pray about these matters, but refuse to let them haunt your thoughts. Instead, focus your energies on doing what you can to brighten the place where I have put you. Use your time, talents, and resources to push back the darkness. Shine MY Light into the world!

I am the true light that shines on the darkness—even in the most terrible conditions. Your light originates in Me and reflects from you. I have called you to reflect my Glory! You do this most effectively by becoming more and more fully the one I designed you to be. Spend ample time seeking My face…..Your time spent with Me nourishes your soul, providing comfort and encouragement. Thus I strengthen you and enable you to be a source of strength for others.”

2 Corinthians 3:18 says. “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” The Message Bible puts it this way; our lives gradually become brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.”  I think this is why I have collected things that have the saying “Leave a little sparkle wherever you go.” I like it because it reminds me to reflect God’s Light. Even if it is just a spark or sparkle, it makes a difference. We are reflecting His Glory and brightening the place we live.

What song am I going to say this reminds me of? You guessed it! “Shine, Jesus Shine” by Graham Kendrick.

Lord, the light of your love is shining
In the midst of the darkness, shining
Jesus, Light of the world, shine upon us
Set us free by the truth you now bring us
Shine on me, shine on me

Shine, Jesus, shine
Fill this land with the Father’s glory
Blaze, Spirit, blaze
Set our hearts on fire
Flow, river, flow
Flood the nations with grace and mercy
Send forth your word
Lord, and let there be light

Lord, I come to your awesome presence
From the shadows into your radiance
By the blood I may enter your brightness
Search me, try me, consume all my darkness
Shine on me, shine on me

As we gaze on your kingly brightness
So our faces display your likeness
Ever changing from glory to glory
Mirrored here may our lives tell your story
Shine on me, shine on me

Be the light. Leave a little sparkle wherever you go. Together our sparkles will make a bonfire!
