It has been awhile since I did a message on one of my favorite topics, country music. So when one of my favorite singers and songs popped into my head this week, I decided to make him this week’s focus. One of my favorite country singers is Tim McGraw, who also often sings with his wife Faith Hill. One of my favorite Tim McGraw songs is titled Always Be Humble and Kind. This song focuses on old-fashioned values that are still so important in today’s world. I believe that Pastor Don would love this song because it discusses topics he shares with us every Sunday in his sermons.
Ephesians 4:2-3 – with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
I hope you enjoy it, and the words are below if case they are helpful to you as well.
You know there’s a lot that goes by the front door; Don’t forget the keys under the mat; Childhood stars shine, always stay humble and kind;
Go to church ’cause your momma says to; visit grandpa every chance that you can; it won’t be a waste of time; Always stay humble and kind;
Hold the door say please say thank you; don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie; I know you got mountains to climb but Always stay humble and kind;
When the dreams you’re dreamin’ come to you; when the work you put in is realized; let yourself feel the pride but Always stay humble and kind;
Don’t expect a free ride from no one; don’t hold a grudge or a chip and here’s why; bitterness keeps you from flying; Always stay humble and kind;
Know the difference between sleeping with someone; and sleeping with someone you love; I love you ain’t no pick up line so Always stay humble and kind;
Hold the door say please say thank you; don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie; I know you got mountains to climb but Always stay humble and kind;
When those dreams you’re dreamin’ come to you; when the work you put in is realized; let yourself feel the pride but Always stay humble and kind;
When it’s hot, eat a root beer, a popsicle; shut off the AC and roll the windows down; let that summer sun shine; Always stay humble and kind;
Don’t take for granted the love this life gives you; when you get where you’re goin’; don’t forget turn back around; help the next one in line; Always stay humble and kind.
Ephesians 4:32 – Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
Next week, I will be providing a historical summary of the genesis of the weekly messages that Tina and I have provided for quite awhile now. I find it quite interesting how this process began, and also how long it has been in place! I hope you will find that history interesting!
