Jiminy Cricket

Many of you might be wondering what Jiminy Cricket has to do with our Wednesday message. Well let me tell you, that little cricket was (is) full of a great deal of wisdom. Just like Reverend Marks. If you heard or read Ron’s message from Sunday, you will recall that he spoke about our conscience. The Biblical definition of conscience is; the soul’s warning system, which allows humans to contemplate their motives and actions and make moral evaluations of what is right and wrong.  Jiminy Cricket’s definition is the still small voice that people won’t listen to.

Ron expanded on Jiminy’s definition by noting that getting chills, unexpected tears, a lump in our throat or goosebumps is also a way the “still small voice” communicates with us. His quote from Guideposts stuck with me. Maybe those things are our brains going straight to our hearts, saying; “Pay attention. This is where you find Me.” Hearing that has caused me to pay closer attention to the nudges I feel and the daily devotions I read. As I pay closer attention, guess what. I grow closer to God and become more aware of His blessings.

One of the scriptures Ron used must have been the catalyst for Jiminy Cricket’s advice to Pinocchio. 1 Timothy 1:5 – But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. What did Jiminy Cricket say to Pinocchio? “Always let your conscience be your guide.

Are you listening to that still small voice?

Love you all,

Tina
