This past Sunday we had our second church service since coronavirus hit us. It was another good service. We again had 19 attendees, the same number as the first Sunday, but with a few different faces. We look forward to welcoming back other members when they are comfortable returning.
For members still wanting to send in their tithes and offerings, the address to use is:

Yesterday we had a surprising but excellent day at Covenant Church. Over the weekend, Lee Pinkoson told me that he and a few friends were planning to feed the Gainesville Police during their shift change from 4-8 PM. Tony and Lynn Dominech organized the effort. They were planning to serve hamburgers and hot dogs made on Lee’s cooker but needed a place to serve them, so he asked if they could serve from our parking lot. I agreed since our church had been so active in feeding the police for 30 years, and they were only planning to be outside in the parking lot. Joe and I went to assist them and it was an awesome time.
There were about 10 folks there to help out, and they additionally provided potato chips, cole slaw, ice cold sodas and bottled water. Covenant provided the desserts as Cindy made cookies and Rose made her Famous Pound Cake.
When we got there, we learned that the police asked if the event could take place at Covenant so they still have fond memories of us. They also remembered Rose’s Famous Pound Cake so that was fun. Unlike the times we fed them, and pretty much stayed out of their way, this time they had their business meeting elsewhere and just came for the food. They lingered for a long time and we had a really nice visit with them.
We had one final surprise when the last shift arrived just before 8 PM. One young policeman approached Joe and me to say hi and shake our hands. When we looked at his nameplate, it was Officer Steven Dose, who had grown up in Covenant Church and was now in GPD for 4 years. It was great to see Steven again and to catch up with him.
So it was a great day at Covenant and for Covenant, the police were very thankful for the effort shown by all and we thanked them all for their service in protecting us.
Attached are some pictures from the event. In the picture of the policemen, Steven Dose in the middle with a moustache.
