Covenant Update from Ron

Dear Covenant Family:

Today was a great day at Covenant, with 30 folks in attendance.  Please note that our first Communion for 2026 will be held two weeks from today, on March 29, also known as Palm Sunday.  We also had a number of prayer requests and praise reports shared by members today.

Pastor Don noted that Tina Floyd thanked everyone for respecting her privacy at this time as she mourns the loss of her 21-year-old grandson.  She also thanked everyone for their prayers and notes of support sent to her.  Pastor Don also gave an update on Francis Bush, who seems to be in better spirits and better health right now, and will remain at Oak Hammock until further notice.  Maurita McKee asked for prayers for Vernon who will have surgery this coming Wednesday.  Larry Noegel asked for prayers for Martha Sue Hill who had open heart surgery this past week, and has now returned home.  Carol Parker asked for prayers for a friend, Glen McMillan, who has liver cancer and is not doing well;  she also asked for prayers for the 45-year-old son of a friend who died suddenly and left a wife and teenager.

Frank Dolwick had a praise for a friend of his and Brenda who was with them in church today, who has been a close friend to them both for over 42 years.  Missy Mauldin also had a praise for her students who last week she asked for prayers for them as they approached their IB exams – she noted that she could also disciple to students as well as teach them, and she mentioned how positively her students responded to her discipleship.  Sam Parker also had a praise report for his lumbar procedure that he had done and how much better his back now feels.

Pastor Don then gave another great sermon regarding when life throws you a curve, what will you do?  He then gave us this scripture:

Hebrews 13:5 – Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever abandon you.”

2 Corinthians 5:7 – for we walk by faith, not by sight

Pastor Don then asked if we should live by faith or by sight.  He gave examples of how fog can severely hinder our sight.  He added that sight is good, but faith is greater.  Don concluded that we need to trust in God’s Holy Word, because we know that He “will never desert you, nor will I ever abandon you.”  Unfortunately, we were unable to tape today’s sermon, so it will not be available on our website.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

I wish you all a very blessed week!

Ron
