Dear Covenant Family:
Today was another great day at Covenant Church, with 31 folks attending the service. Attached is today’s bulletin from the service. Please note Tina’s important description of this month’s ministry, and its impact on the young people in our community. Also note that July is also a month where we support Pine Grove with paper goods and cleaning supplies, and Newberry High School with toiletries for needy students. Tina also included a neat poem titled Remember explaining to us the things we need to forget in our lives and the things we need to remember, please check it out.
We had a number of prayer requests made today. Joe Morgan asked for prayers for his good friend Claude Marsh, a longtime Gainesville resident, who is in Hospice. Beth Armstrong asked for prayers for her parents. Carolyn Vlacos asked for continued prayers for Mack. Pastor Don asked for prayers for Missy who is dealing with serious sinus issues. Edwina Hope asked for continuing prayers for her grandson who is serving with the Peace Corps in Africa.
We also had three prayer praises. The first was given by Frank Dolwick for his cousin Jake, for whom we asked for prayers last week due to heart issues he was having. It turns out he had collapsed in the presence of a doctor who got him to treatment quickly. It turns out Jake had a very serious heart issue and because of the quick treatment, his life was saved and he only required a stent to successfully resolve his issue. Also, Larry and Helen Ann Noegel visited Teresa Robbins this week and said that she is now doing fine following a recent hospitalization. Cindy and Ron Marks also had a praise report for the long life of a dear friend for over 50 years who died this week, Joan Mendenhall. Joan and her husband Bill became good friends of Cindy and Ron more than 50 years ago and we were both grateful for their long, happy, and healthy lives together, and for their impact on both our lives and those of our children.
Pastor Don’s sermon was based on John 15:7-9 – If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. 9 Just as the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you; remain in My love.
This scripture occurs near the end of Jesus’ life on earth. Jesus is trying to prepare the apostles for life after He is gone, and that is what the sermon discusses. Please access the sermon at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose the sermon you want to hear. Also note that a few weeks ago we added the anthem sung by the Sounds of Hope that is sung just before the sermon as an added bonus to your listening pleasure.
I wish you all a very blessed week in your lives this coming week.
Ron
