Covenant Update from Ron

Dear Covenant Family:

Today was another great service at Covenant with 30 folks attending.  Please see the attached bulletin from today’s service for your information.  Please note the poem Tina has shared titled We’ll Get Through This, it is excellent.

Prayer requests were asked by Pastor Don for continued prayers for Victoria McArthur for her knee replacement, her husband Paul for some likely needed surgery, and for a family member of theirs who has been ill for awhile.  Don also asked for prayers for a young couple expecting their first child and have been advised the child will likely have Down’s Syndrome.  Carolyn Vlacos asked for prayers for both her brother Danny and Mack’s brother Bobby who are both hospitalized.  Edwina Hope gave a praise that her grandson arrived safely in Zambia this week and is now learning the speak the local language, please continue to keep him in your prayers as he begins his service there.  Bill Sanderson who came to Covenant Church with the Nazarene members is near death so prayers are asked for him and his family.  Diane Mauldin asked for traveling mercy prayers for her friends serving as missionaries in Indonesia as they return home soon and Missy Mauldin asked for the same for her missionary friends soon returning to the US from Spain.  Missy also gave a praise request for a group of Newberry High School student leaders who will be traveling to Washington DC this week for a number of activities being sponsored by Kat Cammack, a US House of Representatives member from our area.  This is an excellent opportunity for them to learn more about our government and especially related to agricultural affairs, note that a number of our church members contributed financially to support this opportunity for these students.  Patty Sanders also asked for prayers for her brother Kenny Hines living in Mississippi.

Pastor Don gave a sermon titled He Knows Your Name and used scripture from Matthew 7:11 and Luke 12:7.

Matthew 7:11 – So if you, despite being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Luke 12:7 – But even the hairs of your head are all counted. Do not fear; you are more valuable than a great number of sparrows.

Pastor Don will not be in church next Sunday and he wanted to give a Father’s Day sermon, so he gave that today.  If you would like to hear his sermon, it can be found at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/, choose the Sermons tab, and click on today’s sermon.  Note that Monday, June 19, is Don and Diane Mauldin’s 52nd wedding anniversary, so they will be off celebrating.  In Don’s absence, Noah Wilbanks, head of the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), will give our sermon next Sunday.  Noah also preached last year at this time and was a very dynamic speaker for Jesus Christ. We hope many of you will come next Sunday and hear Noah share God’s Word with us.

May everyone reading this message have a very blessed week.

Ron
