Covenant Update from Ron

Dear Covenant Family:

We had a great service at Covenant yesterday.  Attached is the bulletin from Sunday’s service, and you can see we had a different service than usual.  I will speak more about this later.  Please note that the June Covenant ministry is Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).  Note that Pastor Don will not be at church on June 19 (2 weeks from today on Father’s Day), and our guest speaker will be Noah Wilbanks, the current leader of our local FCA office.  Noah also spoke to us last year and was a very dynamic speaker with a great message for us, so we hope many of you will come out to hear Noah again.

It was good to see Carl Romey and Michelle Miller in church today after their health issues this past week, please continue to pray for them both because their health issues continue.  Pastor Don told us that Victoria McArthur asked for prayers for a hospitalized family friend.  Becky Alexander asked for prayers for her uncle (Bill Mercado’s brother) who is hospitalized in NY and is near death which is expected soon.  Please keep the entire Mercado family in your prayers.  Carolyn Vlacos asked for prayers for her nephew who is facing open heart surgery, for her brother, and continued prayers for Mack.  Edwina asked for continued prayers for her grandson who leaves this week for a 2-year Peace Corps stint in Africa.  There were also two unspoken prayer requests made this morning as well.

Pastor Don asked Rose Morgan weeks ago if she would play her favorite Christian hymns some Sunday instead of his providing a sermon.  Rose and Don worked it out so that would be done yesterday.  Noone had been told this plan beforehand so we were all surprised when this happened.  Rose played her eight favorite hymns and Tina provided commentary on the history of each song before Rose played it.  You can see the eight songs Rose played in the attched church bulletin.  I think everyone enjoyed today’s “musical sermon” and I know Pastor Don did.  The sermon should be available on our website this week, so anyone who was not in church or anyone who heard it but wants to listen to it again can access it on our church website at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/, then going to Sermons, and selecting the June 4 sermon.

May God continue to bless Covenant Church and may each of you have a very blessed week.

Ron
