Covenant update from Ron

Dear Covenant Church Family:

Today was another great day at Covenant Church, with
29 folks in attendance.  We had a number
of prayer requests and a praise report raised today.  Pastor Don began with prayers requested for
both Paul and Victoria McArthur.  Both
are currently in the hospital after Paul fell and broke his hip; and is
awaiting surgery for it, but the surgery is being delayed due to a number of seizures
that Paul has had.   Victoria has been in
the hospital more than a week after passing out, falling, and breaking her nose;
she is hoping to be released soon.
Pastor Don also raised up Vernon McKee who is dealing with a bad cold,
and Francis Bush who is still at Oak Hammock.
Carol Parker asked for prayers for her husband Sam as he was not in
church today due to a cold as well.  We
did have a praise report from Pastor Don who told us how pleased the St.
Francis House was when he delivered all our leftover food from our Valentine’s
Day Dinner; they were truly thrilled to provide a hot meal with lots of great
food for their clientele!

Pastor Don then presented a sermon that followed up on
a sermon he gave a few months ago, and there were other points he wanted to
make after that sermon.  His scripture
was:

Romans 8:28
– And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who
love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Don gave a number of examples where we may not know
how we benefit from God’s presence in our lives.  We often get aggravated, but we may not
always see what God is doing on our behalf.
He gave the example of Joseph who was almost killed by his brothers, and
then sold to be a servant in Egypt.
However, that led to Joseph meeting Pharoah, becoming a loyal servant to
him, and saving his entire family and all of Egypt to eventually go to the
Promised Land.  Don also told about the
advantage God has, looking down on all of us from heaven always for our benefit.

He concluded with the story of Jesus’ crucifixion which
led all believers to think that story was now ended, yet Jesus’ resurrection
and joining God in heaven was the end result, which was really the beginning of
the next chapter of God’s story!  If you
would like to listen to this sermon, all recorded sermons can be accessed
at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and
then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose
today’s message.

I wish all of you a most blessed week!
