Dear Covenant Family:
I always start out this message by saying “It was a great day at Covenant…”. Today, however, I begin by stating today was a most blessed day at Covenant Church! I will explain this statement below.
Today, we had 26 folks in attendance. Please see the bulletin for today’s service attached below. Take note of Tina’s added Random Thoughts and Fun Definitions, they are excellent.
We had a number of prayer requests today. Pastor Don reported that both Vicki and Paul McArthur are still struggling with respiratory issues. Larry Noegel gave an update on Mack and Carolyn Vlacos that they are both feeling a bit better, but still need our prayers because they are still plagued by serious health issues. Pastor Don also asked for prayers for his sister who has been diagnosed with COVID, and also has respiratory issues, so is at increased risk. JoAnn Mills reported that Shirley Romey was out today due to a bad cold. Missy Mauldin asked for continued prayers for her friend Ruth and her family who have been serving as missionaries in Spain, and who have a meeting on Tuesday to help them decide on their future missionary work. Craig Alexander asked for continued prayers for his mother who has now returned home but must continue returning for weekly treatments for her insulin and cancer treatments. Becky Alexander then announced that she has just been diagnosed with kidney cancer, and her physicians are now planning the best treatment for her.
When Pastor Don was ready to begin his sermon, he mentioned that he had a change of plans for his sermon. Carol Parker had spoken to him during our visitation time, and suggested that we should have a special prayer time for Becky, and also for Patsy Sutton, who has been battling cancer for 8 years, receiving constant treatments during that time.
So Craig and Becky were given seats in the front of the church, and were surrounded by all attendees today, with hands laid on both of them. Pastor Don asked everyone to says prayers if they were comfortable, and he would conclude the prayers with his own. I believe almost every person in attendance prayed for them and for Patsy. Pastor Don then gave a concluding prayer, and Tina concluded the service with our singing of Awesome God. The words to that song begin – Our God is an awesome God; He reigns from heaven above, with wisdom, pow’r and love. These words then get repeated again, and represent the incredibly blessed church service that we had today. God is good, all the time! All the time, God is good!
Tina then suggested that since we learned of Becky’s new cancer today on 1/26 that we should take time out from our busy schedules each day at 1:26 PM to pray for both Becky and Patsy.
Please be sure to keep Craig and Becky Alexander, and Patsy and Bobby Sutton, in your prayers all week this week, and in the coming weeks as well!
May God continue to bless Covenant Church!
Ron
