Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

Today was a great day at Covenant, with 30 folks in attendance.  Ron announced that The Joe Morgan Helping Hands Benevolence Fund now has $15,000 available Covenant to use in supporting members, family, and friends in need.  Covenant provided the initial $5,000 in funding and members and friends of Covenant have contributed the additional funds.  Covenant will continue to accept donations to this fund going forward, you can contribute to the fund by making your check payable to Covenant Church and state The Joe Morgan Fund in the lower left corner.

A number of prayer requests were raised today.  Carol Parker asked for prayers for her 99-year-old sister in Nashville who fell and broke her hip last Sunday while entering her church; she will begin therapy tomorrow.  Pastor Don asked for prayers for three folks – (1) Paul McArthur who has now had a successful hip replacement; (2) his daughter Missy who broke two bones in her foot last week, and is now on a mission trip; and (3) a young friend of his who is a Santa Fe college student who has been sick for a month, losing 18 pounds, and the doctors are still searching for the cause.  Helen Ann Noegel asked for prayers for Larry who will have wrist surgery this Wednesday.  Brenda Dolwick asked for prayers for Frank who was out sick today.  Patty Sanders asked for prayers for a friend that Patty and her aunt had lunch with last week, and the friend suffered a stroke as they were leaving the restaurant.  Rose Morgan asked for continued prayers for Joe’s niece, Sheri Hall, who suffered a serious stroke a few weeks ago and has just been moved to Atlanta for enhanced care.

A praise was given for Patty Sanders, who was at Covenant today, for her choosing to go to church with her grandson in Alachua, although we miss her greatly.  Rose Morgan also raised a praise for Joe who has shown great improvement since receiving his new cardiac valve.

Pastor Don’s sermon today was titled Choosing a Protection Plan.  Don shared with us that God is the only protection plan we need, if we allow Him!  Don Used 5 separate verses of scripture to make his points.  They are:

Psalms 16:7-8 – I will bless the Lord who has advised me; indeed, my mind instructs me in the night.  I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Psalms 91:4 – He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may take refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and wall.

Psalms 121:5 – The Lord is your protector; the Lord is your shade on your right hand.

Proverbs 30:5 – Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.

2 Chronicles 16:9 – For the eyes of the Lord roam throughout the earth, so that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will have wars.”

The key to your life is what protection plan are you seeking?  It should be the plan to hope, trust, and obey.  If you would like to listen to this sermon, all recorded sermons can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose today’s message.

I wish each of you a most blessed week!
