Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

We had a good service at Covenant yesterday.  We had a smaller crowd than recently with only 22 folks present but all was good.  Don Mauldin provided our sermon, which was titled “The Sea Or The Soul”, and the scripture for his message was from Acts 27:14-44 (see attached church bulletin).  Don referenced a song that was written around this message by Anne Murray in 1970, titled Put Your Hand in the Hand.  You can listen to this song below:

Also, here are the words if you for any reason can’t access the music.

“Put Your Hand In The Hand”, by Anne Murray (1970)

Put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water

Put your hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently
By putting your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee

Every time I look into the holy book I wanna tremble
When I read about the part where the carpenter cleared the temple
For the buyers and the sellers were no different fellers than what I profess to be
And it causes me shame to know I’m not the gal that I should be

Put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water
Put your hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently
By putting your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee

Momma taught me how to pray before I reached the age of seven
When I’m down on my knees, that’s when I’m close to heaven
Daddy lived his life with two kids and a wife; you do what you must do
But he showed me enough of what it takes to get you through

Put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water
Put your hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently
By putting your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee

Don’s message was that if God can still the sea, he can also still our soul.  Yet too many people turn from God when they have some rough seas hit their life.  Anne Murray captured the essence of Don’s message very well.

We are also sorry to inform you all of the passing of Jim Freemen, a past member of Covenant Church.  Also, this is the last week to donate to our May ministry at Arbor House and to bring additional paper and cleaning products for Pine Grove.

Also note that Don Mauldin will preach again at Covenant the next 2 weeks, so hope everyone can get there to hear him speak to us.

May God bless Covenant Church and all our members and friends this week.

Ron
