Dear Covenant Family:
Yesterday was a great day at Covenant, with 29 folks in attendance. Unfortunately, I have a new laptop and I have not yet figured out how to create the file I usually use to send out the bulletin from our service – so I apologize. I hope I can get that figured out by next week.
Today we had a number of praise reports and prayer requests. We had a praise report regarding our church scholarship program rewarding Rose Morgan and Tina Pinkoson for their great musical leadership for 30 years. Those scholarships have now been awarded to two students, both graduates of Gainesville High School. Each student will receive a $5,000 scholarship for their freshman year in college, and next year Rose and Tina will provide two more scholarships for an additional $10,000. We also had a praise report offered by Tina Pinkoson for Becky Alexander for how well she is doing following her cancer kidney surgery a few weeks ago. Please keep Becky and Craig in your prayers today as they travel back to Moffitt Cancer Hospital in Tampa to receive her post-surgery pathology report.
We also had a number of prayer requests raised. Tina asked for prayers for her father Joe Morgan who was hospitalized for three days this week for serious heart issues. He did receive a new stent and now will wear a defibrillator vest for 3 months to monitor his heart. Pastor Don asked for prayers for his friend David Roy who is struggling with a tumor on his spine. Kim Morgan (Joe’s daughter-in-law) asked for prayers for her brother who is receiving treatment for oral cancer. Nancy Parke also had an unspoken request. Larry Noegel asked for prayers for Mack Vlacos who is not doing well right now, and would like to return home to Gainesville (he and Carolyn moved to Augusta GA about a month ago to live with their daughter). We also asked for prayers for their daughter Maxine and her husband, with whom they now live. Missy Mauldin asked for prayers for her students who will be having their IB tests this coming week. Helen Ann Noegel asked for prayers for Patsy Baker and her sister Nancy for their brother who had a heart attack this week. Carol Parker also asked for prayers for Steve Saxon (and Brenda) who is in the hospital with fluid on his heart.
Pastor Don gave a Mother’s Day sermon and based his sermon on the following verse of scripture – 2 Timothy 1:5 – For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelled in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.
Pastor Don made 3 points with his sermon:
1 – Mothers and grandmothers have great influence on others;
2 – Godly women are women of prayer; and
3 – Women reflect God’s love.
If you would like to listen to this sermon, all recorded sermons can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose today’s message.
I wish all of you a very blessed week.
