Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

Today was a great day at Covenant Church.  We had 25 folks in attendance, with a number of folks out due to illness and travel plans.  Please see the attached bulletin from today’s service for more information on our current ministries and Easter.

Pastor Don announced that Mack and Carolyn Vlacos will be moving to Augusta GA this Friday to live with their daughter at her home.  Church members can stay in touch with them by mail or phone.  Their new address will be: 2142 Broad St., Augusta GA, 30904, and Carolyn will still have her cell phone and her number is 352-214-8984.

Patsy Baker had a prayer request for her grandson.  Larry Noegel told the church that he has just been diagnosed with glaucoma, and will determine how it will be treated.  Becky Alexander informed the church that her planned kidney cancer surgery is still planned for April 23.  Maurita McKee asked for prayers for her daughter and 3 young granddaughters who are in DC this week.  Pastor Don also asked for prayers for Diane and Missy who are both out sick today.

We also had a number of praise reports today.  Patty Sanders had a praise for her son Scott who has had great difficulty with his brother’s recent death, but went on a cruise with a good friend which has helped him greatly in his recovery.  Maurita McKee also had a praise report that she did not need heart injections to reduce the fluid on her heart, and can instead take some medicine that is less traumatic to meet the same objective.  Tina Pinkoson shared a praise from Newberry High School for all the snacks and toiletries we donated to them from our collection efforts throughout March.  Pastor Don also raised a praise report for our local FCA who will be holding an event this Friday night at Citizens Field titled Fields of Faith from 6-8 PM in which numerous athletes and a Closing Speaker will share personal testimonies, share the Gospel, and share a Bible reading challenge. Attendees can respond to how God is moving in their hearts, receive prayer, and take next steps on the invitations presented.  Food trucks will be available on site.  Please feel free to attend this event after attending our Good Friday service at Covenant Church at 5 PM!

Pastor Don focused today’s sermon on Palm Sunday and used this scripture:

Matthew 21:10 – When He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, “Who is this?”

Pastor Don started by saying that it is perfectly normal to ask questions all of our life.  He used his sermon to answer this question, and to tell us how to answer this question when we are asked.  He also used some additional scripture from Matthew 21.  If you would like to listen to this sermon, all recorded sermons can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose today’s message.

I wish each of you a most blessed week as you prepare for Easter!

Ron
