Dear Covenant Family:
Today was a great but chilly day at Covenant. We had 34 folks in attendance, and attached is the bulletin from our service. Please note the Happy New Year! poem that Tina has included for how to best serve our God in the New Year! I would also recommend the story on the back cover titled NASA – To the Stars and Beyond, it is a very interesting and illuminating article.
We had a small list of Prayer Requests today. Shaw Grigsby asked for prayers for his daughter who is going through a difficult time. Larry Noegel informed us that Teresa Robbins fell this week in the grocery store and she was hospitalized so appropriate tests could be run to make sure she had no serious injuries. After much testing, it was determined she was OK, so she returned home. Edwina Hope asked for traveling mercy for her daughter and son-in-law who were going to Africa to visit their son in the Peace Corps. Carolyn Vlacos also asked for continuing prayers for Mack who is still struggling with issues related to his breathing problems, he is now on tanks of oxygen to get the breathing support he needs.
Note from the bulletin that Pastor Don’s sermon was titled No Figs Again and his scripture was Luke 13:6-9. His message was on our purpose for the new year. If we don’t know our purpose, we will miss it. We have one major purpose – that is to love God and all those around us. We also have a purpose to pray for other people. If you weren’t able to be at church today, I would highly recommend listening to his sermon. Pastor Don’s sermon can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose the sermon you want to hear. You will also be able to hear the Sound of Hope anthem for today and also our Communion service that we had at the end of the service.
I wish you all a very happy and safe New Year’s Eve, and a most blessed week beginning 2024!
Ron
