Dear Covenant Family:
Yesterday was a great day at Covenant. We had fewer attendees than normal, only 27 folks, but the weather was quite cold and some folks were out of town. Attached is yesterday’s bulletin, to update you on church news. Remember that next Sunday is the last Sunday of the month, so remember your donations to Pine Grove and Newberry High School if you wish to contribute. Also remember that we will have a Christmas Eve service at 5 PM at Covenant. Also note the poem that Tina included in the bulletin titled It’s Christmas Time Again.
We had some prayer requests and praises yesterday. Francis Bush asked for prayers for Madge’s family as her brother died in Georgia last week. Helen Ann Noegel gave an update on Mack Vlacos that he again fell this past week and injured himself again but did not have to go to the hospital, please keep both Mack and Carolyn in your prayers. Our visitor Pauline asked for prayers for our newly elected President Trump and all the others who will be our new local, state, and national leaders. Victoria McArthur raised a praise that we always need to remember the importance of the manger at this time of year. Missy Mauldin also raised both a prayer request and a praise for the local 18-year-old high school student who was accidentally killed in a hunting accident recently, she commented on the huge attendance at his funeral because of the incredible Christian this person was in his short life and his major impact on so many people. Becky Alexander also asked for continuing prayers for Craig and his mother Robertha as her condition continues to weaken, and for Craig as he is spending much of his time in Orlando with his mother.
Ron Marks gave yesterday’s sermon since Pastor Don was unable to be there. The sermon was focused on love, the fourth advent topic for the season. I chose to write out the entire sermon this time, so I could share it with those folks who could not be at church yesterday. So you will find it attached to this email as well.
I wish everyone at Covenant Church and their families and loved ones a most blessed Christmas and holiday season, and may everyone who is traveling over the holidays have traveling mercies. May God continue to bless Covenant Church!
Ron
