Dear Covenant Church Family:
Today was a great day at Covenant built around two Godly Christmas activities. Before I begin describing these two activities, let me begin with a few announcements. First, our ministry for December will be hurricane relief, where we want to support the people in Jamaica and Cuba, who both had substantial hurricane damage in their countries in November. Whatever funds we raise in December for this purpose, we will add a church contribution to it, and we will send it to Samaritan’s Purse, led by Franklin Graham, who has been very active in providing support to these countries. I also want to remind everyone that we will have a Christmas Eve service at 5 PM on December 24, that should last about 45 minutes.
We then had folks in church make prayer requests and praise reports. Frank Dolwick led off the prayer requests for Francis Bush, who is currently at Oak Hammock undergoing physical therapy; when the therapy is complete he will move from his apartment in The Village to The Windsor, which is right up the street from The Village. Larry Noegel asked for prayers for the people affected by attacks this weekend in Australia, Brown University in Providence RI, and the Jewish community. Patsy Baker asked for continued prayers for her sons. Michelle Miller asked for prayers for an unspoken request.
Tina had a praise report in that she fell yesterday, and had a black and blue eye. However, she decided she needed to be at church today, and she is glad all worked out well for her to be here. Ron Marks also had a praise report for his and Cindy’s trip to DC over Thanksgiving, for all the good times they had with their children and grandchildren.
Tina and the Ensemble then provided our message today through multiple Christmas songs, with authentic story telling mixed in. The songs that they sang were Come Emmanuel, Silent Night, Fear Not Good News, Bethlehem Calls, Heaven’s Come to Earth Today, and Start at the Manger. Overall, it was a very special church service,
Then, this afternoon we had a Covenant Christmas Social at the home of Don and Diane Mauldin from 4-6 PM. As usual, we had way too much food, but fun was had by all folks in attendance. Overall, it was a great day at Covenant Church!!
We all look forward to the remainder of the Advent Season, and the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ once again! May God continue to bless everyone who welcomes the birth of Jesus Christ.
Ron
