Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

Today was a great day at Covenant.  We had 32 attendees in church this morning.  Please note the announcements in the attached bulletin and also Tina’s added poem titled In Everything Give Thanks

We had a number of prayer requests today for church members.  Pastor Don asked for prayers for Paul McArthur who has broken his nose, and continued prayers for Mack and Carolyn Vlacos who both continue with serious health issues.  Larry Noegel asked for prayers for Patsy Baker who has double bronchitis.  Shaw Grigsby asked for continued prayers for his friend Steve who has just completed treatment for throat cancer and is being hopeful that he can “ring the bell” today signifying he is cured.  Becky Alexander gave a report on Craig’s mother Robertha, who is now receiving dialysis every other day but is still not doing very well.  Ron Marks also raised a praise for all the people in church today wearing purple as requested by Becky Alexander since November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month.

Pastor Don titled his sermon today 3 Reasons for Thanksgiving and his scripture was

1 Chronicles 16:8-12 – Psalm of Thanksgiving – Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name;
make His deeds known among the peoples.  Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; speak of all His wonders.  10 Boast in His holy name; let the heart of those who seek the Lord be joyful.  11 Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face continually.  12 Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done, His marvels and the judgments from His mouth.

Pastor Don began his sermon commenting that giving thanks to God is mentioned 77 times in the Bible.  People who are thankful for what they have are 76% more likely to be healthy people.  He added that we should give thanks often as we speak to others and to have an attitude of thanksgiving year-round.  We need to focus on our positive feelings rather than our negative feelings, and always remember all that God has done for you and given you.

Unfortunately, we were unable to tape today’s message so his sermon will not be available on our website.

I would like to wish everyone and all your family members, especially those you will be with this weekend, a most blessed Thanksgiving.

Ron
