Dear Covenant Family:
Today we had 28 folks in church. Attached is both the bulletin from today’s service and the calendar for both November and December. Please see both for planned church activities the remainder of this year.
Remember that tonight at 5 PM is our annual Covenant Thanksgiving Dinner. We hope you are all attending and bringing family and friends with you. It should be a wonderful evening of food and friendship.
Also note that Covenant Church will hold its Annual Business Meeting immediately after the church service on December 11. We hope many of you will be there that day to participate in the church planning for 2023. Note that anyone who cannot attend that day can still vote by giving your proxy to a Trustee. Note that agenda items will be sent out before the meeting so everyone will know what we will be voting on that day.
Pastor Don’s sermon today was titled Why? And his scripture was:
1 Chronicles 16:34 – Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His faithfulness is everlasting.
The background for this scripture is that David had brought the ark of the Covenant back to Israel, so it was a time of celebration and thanksgiving. Don said that Why? Is a question we often ask, and this one simple verse of scripture answers two very important questions about God. First of all, God is goodness. Only God promises us that we have a place to live after our earthly time ends. God invites us to participate in His goodness. He gives us people to whom we can be part of their lives, whom we can help and also pray for them. God is good …. all the time! All the time …. God is good!
Second, God’s goodness is everlasting, not temporary like many things in our lives. God is always there to bring us back and save us from whatever situation we may have gotten ourselves into. Be grateful when God says you are one of His children. We may waste some time in our lives and turn away from Him for awhile, but He is always there to welcome us when we come back to Him. He will love us always!
I wish you all a very blessed week of Thanksgiving with your family and loved ones!
Ron
