Dear Covenant Church Family:
Today was a great day at Covenant, with 34 folks in attendance. Please remember that next Sunday night, November 23 at 5 PM, Covenant Church will host its Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Covenant will provide the turkey and ham, and all drinks. Church members are asked to bring a vegetable, salad, or dessert that will be shared with other attendees.
In addition, our Covenant service on December 14 will be a Christmas Musical service, where the Ensemble will perform a number of Christmas songs. In addition, Pastor Don and Diane Mauldin will host a Christmas Social at their home at 4 PM on December 14. Their address is 10401 SW 8th Avenue, Gainesville FL, and all are welcome. Please bring your favorite appetizer to share with others.
We only had two prayer requests made today. Ron Marks gave an update on Becky Alexander, and that she had a pretty reasonable day yesterday, and was looking forward to, hopefully, being released from the hospital soon. Bill Mercado then gave a report from this morning on Becky, and reported that she was not feeling well today. So we certainly need to keep Becky and Craig, and the Mercado family, in our prayers until she can be released from the hospital. Shaw Grigsby then asked for prayers for a good friend of his, Vernon, likely to die within a few days but who is strong in his faith.
Pastor Don then gave his sermon which was based on:
Psalm 92:14-15 – They will still yield fruit in advanced age; they will be full of sap and very green, 15 To declare that the Lord is just; He is my rock, and there is no malice in Him.
Pastor Don suggested that we still have value even when we are “antique” age wise, defined as over 70 years. We still have purpose in life, and that purpose is to celebrate God. Our faith should shine brighter to younger folks, so we should want to share our individual stories. It is up to each of us to write our story on the hearts of people. If you would like to listen to this sermon, all recorded sermons can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose today’s message.
I wish all of you a most blessed week this coming week.
Ron
