Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

Today was another great day at Covenant.  We had 31 folks in attendance, and our bulletin is attached for you to keep up with upcoming news about Covenant.  Please note our Annual Business Meeting will be held immediately after church next Sunday to approve our 2025 budget and approve Trustees running for re-election to a new term, we promise the meeting will be very short!  Also, we will hold our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner the following Sunday at 5 PM.  The church will provide the turkey, ham, dressing, and drinks, and we ask members to bring their favorite side dish to share with everyone.  Tina also included a note on Veteran’s Day to commemorate all those who served in our military to protect us and our way of life.

Regarding prayer requests, Larry Noegel raised up Mack Vlacos who now has a broken nose in addition to his breathing issues.  Bill Mercado raised up Robertha Alexander (Craig’s mother) who is still dealing with recovering from her hospitalization last week.  Shirley Romey asked for prayers for her friend in Brazil who is facing pancreatic cancer surgery.   Shaw Grigsby raised up a friend who is currently being treated for throat cancer.  Sam Parker raised up a friend who is now recovering from a stroke.  Tina Pinkoson also made a praise request for Shirley Romey who now has her daughter, four grandchildren, and a few dogs living with her.

Pastor Don began his sermon with a question – Do we pray or talk to God?  Do we like to tell God about things?  If so, we need to pray for people, not tell God about them.  Don used the following scripture to make his points:

Matthew 6:5-8 – “And when you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they will be seen by people. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But as for you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.  “And when you are praying, do not use thoughtless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

If you would like to listen to Pastor Don’s sermon, all recorded sermons can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose the sermon you want to hear.

May you all have a most blessed week!
