Dear Covenant Church Family:
Today was a great day at Covenant, with 36 folks in attendance. Please note that next Saturday Daylight Savings Time for 2025 will end. The result requires everyone to set their clocks back one hour before going to bed next Saturday night, which will provide everyone an additional hour of sleep. If you plan to attend church next Sunday, you need to make sure you have changed your alarm clock at home! Also, note that Covenant Church will hold its annual Business Meeting immediately following our church service on November 9, note that the meeting should be completed in about 15 minutes, so it should not take long. We also announce our annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, November 23, at 5 PM. Covenant will provide all the turkey and ham, along with all drinks. We ask everyone attending to please bring their favorite vegetable, salad, or dessert to provide the needed side dishes.
We had two prayer requests made on Sunday, and a number of praise requests also made. Both Carol and Sam Parker had prayer requests for their son Rick, who just recently had needed surgery in his second eye, and are hoping that it will fix the issue with both eyes now. Becky Alexander was unable to have the complete MRI she needed last week to finish off plans for her upcoming kidney cancer surgery, so plans are to try and complete that process this week. Please keep Becky, Craig, and the Mercado family in your prayers so Becky can receive the needed surgery.
A number of praise requests were also offered today. Frank Dolwick had praise for Brenda for whom the new update locker room at Santa Fe College will be named when the upgrades are completed. Michelle Miller had prayers for a friend who has now successfully found a job at UF, and will start soon. Helen Ann Noegel had praise for Carolyn Vlacos, who is now comfortably living with her daughter’s family in Augusta, GA. Bill Mercado thanks church members for their support of his daughter Becky as she continues her fight against kidney cancer.
Pastor Don Used the following scripture for his sermon today:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 – There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven.
He started by saying that God’s service for each of us never ends, it just continues to evolve. He continued that there is a season for everything, even if we don’t understand at the moment. God is never done with you, He is just leading you to a new chapter. Don gave the example of Joseph in the Bible, who went from a pit to jail to a palace. God moves us from season to season, but He always gives us a purpose. If God brings you into a new season, he will prepare you for it.
