Dear Covenant Family:
We had a great service today at Covenant Church, with 32 folks in attendance. Attached is today’s bulletin, please note the information provided on Hurricane Relief which we will focus on our local coastal communities that were hit very hard by three hurricanes this year. Note that Covenant will continue to gather paper and cleaning products and toiletries to be distributed to those in need in our local coastal communities, as well as to take financial donations to share with those people as well.
Prayer requests and praises were both raised in church today. The update on Carolyn and Mack Vlacos is that Carolyn has been released from the hospital after suffering a minor heart attack early this week and Mack is still hospitalized with breathing problems but he also hopes to go home soon. Patty Sanders asked for prayers for her 34 year old nephew, who is married with two children, who will have surgery this Tuesday for a brain tumor that was just diagnosed. Tina Pinkoson asked for prayers for Michelle Miller who had to put her 13-year old dog down this week. Victoria MacArthur asked for prayers for the nephew of a friend of hers who is 56 years old and has just been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Tina Pinkoson also had a praise report for Becky Alexander who was named as one of the top 1% of employees at American Airlines, and she and Craig will both fly to Dallas in a few weeks for a dinner recognizing these employees. Becky Alexander also offered praise for her father who is doing well after his recent brain tumor issue, and asked for continued prayers because he will need to have a follow-up MRI done in early December.
Pastor Don gave another excellent sermon today, based on a single verse of scripture from Proverbs 29:18 in the Old King James version of the Bible. The gist of his message was that we always have to have a vision where we want to go so we can stay focused on our spiritual growth. If we lose sight of God working in our lives, we might give up. Instead, God wants us to have a vision for our spiritual future, and that vision should always have God first in our minds and hearts. If you would like to listen to Pastor Don’s sermon, all recorded sermons can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose the sermon you want to hear.
Also, we will have our annual Covenant Church business meeting immediately after church on November 17 to approve our 2025 annual budget and acclaim approval for the Trustees to continue their work in the leadership of Covenant Church.
I wish everyone a very blessed week, and may you feel the presence of God in your life all week.
Ron
