Dear Covenant Family:
Today was a good day at Covenant with 28 folks in attendance. Continue to pray for Madge who is getting weaker, and also for Edwina who continues to improve and we hope to have her back at Covenant soon. Also continue to pray for Carl and for Marilyn’s brother who is currently at Shands Hospital.
Pastor Don’s sermon was titled What Do You See? And his scripture was 2 Kings 6:15-20, which is provided in the attached bulletin. His message was about how we look at things, and how what we see is influenced by our perspective. We need to be open to adjusting our thoughts at times, and being open to God adjusting our views if we open our hearts to Him, just like Elijah did in the scripture. He concluded that our problems are big, but God is bigger, so we need to trust in and look to Him for our answers.
This month’s ministry is the local SWAG (South West Advocacy Group), working to improve the well-being of underprivileged residents in SW Gainesville. Also, remember our ministries for Pine Grove (paper and cleaning products) and Newberry (toiletries for needy students) since this month has 5 Sundays.
Last Sunday, Covenant held its first annual Covenant Boiled Peanuts and Ice Cream Social which had about 35 members and friends attend, and was a great success. Covenant will also be bringing back an old favorite dinner next month, our Pre-Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner at 6 PM on November 21, the Sunday right before Thanksgiving. Covenant will provide the turkeys and dressing and drinks. Attendees will be asked to bring a favorite dish of theirs (vegetable, salad, or dessert) to share with other attendees. Your dishes can be homemade or store bought, whatever pleases you. This dinner was always a favorite of all our members, and we are pleased to be bringing it back this year.
May God bless the coming week for you and your loved ones. Hoping to see you next Sunday at Covenant!
Ron
