Dear Covenant Family:
Today was a great day at Covenant, with 34 members and friends attending the service. Attached is today’s bulletin, with relevant information for you. It was great to have Carolyn and Mack Vlacos, Patsy, and Bobby Sutton, and Shirley Romey back after recent health issues and travel. Please continue to pray for Carolyn and Mack, Patsy and Bobby, and Carl and Shirley, as well as others on our Prayer List. Carol Parker asked for prayers for all the Israelis impacted by last weekend’s attack by Hamas. Victoria McArthur also asked people to consider donating to a group she knows is providing meals to Israeli troops getting ready to go to war with Hamas. The website for anyone interested in donating is https://www.yadezra.net/donation_e.php?occasion=war_soldiers_23.
Tina Pinkoson offered a Praise Report for her friend Tiffany who recently gave birth to healthy identical twin boys, given the biblical names of Jonathan and David. Tina also offered a Praise Report for Shirley Romey to thank her for filling in so quickly for Rose when Joe was hospitalized with his recent heart issue. We are so blessed to have both Rose and Shirley available to provide the piano expertise every Sunday.
Pastor Don’s sermon today was titled A Little Like David and his scripture was from Daniel 3:15-18 and Daniel 6:10-23, and he also added a verse from Revelations 12:11. His sermon described the response by Daniel and three friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego who withstood King Nebuchadnezzar’s command when he required all citizens to worship him as king. Pastor Don contrasted their response to that of today’s Christian’s response to the evil committed by Hamas a week ago. Don believes there are many more people that believe in God than want to admit it, but his sermon was about the need for Christians to speak out strongly when obvious evil occurs in our society. I believe Pastor Don gives an excellent sermon every Sunday, but I think today’s sermon was once of his best and also very meaningful for today’s world! For anyone who was not in church today, I strongly encourage you to listen to his sermon. Pastor Don’s sermon can be accessed at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose the sermon you want to hear. Remember that you also get a bonus when you listen to his sermon because you will also get to hear the anthem sung by the Sounds of Hope today.
May God bless your week ahead!
Ron
