Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

Today was a great day at Covenant.  We had 33 people at the morning church service, including Beverly Wurts back with us for the first time since COVID hit us.  It was great to have Beverly back with us again!

Continue to pray for Madge and Francis, as Madge grows weaker.  Edwina is doing good, and I am told she looks great.  We are continuing to provide food for her, so let Rose Morgan know if you would like to be added to the list to provide meals for Edwina.  Continue to pray for Carl as well as he had a difficult week.

Pastor Don’s sermon was titled It’s For All and his scripture was a single verse, 2 Peter 3:9, which is included in today’s attached bulletin.  His message was that God has a place for all, and wants to give everyone a chance to be saved.  So we need to keep reaching out to others and continue forgiving others who mistreat us, even when it is difficult to do so.  If you would like an example of how we should respond, check out the story on the back of today’s bulletin titled Polished Boots!.  Don used it in his sermon as an example of how we should forgive and respond to a non-believer.

Note that this month’s ministry is SWAG, the South West Advocacy Group, to improve the well-being of underprivileged residents in SW Gainesville.  In addition, October has 5 Sundays, so we will again collect paper and cleaning products for Pine Grove and toiletries for high school students.

Then, today at 5 PM, Covenant held its first annual Covenant Boiled Peanuts and Ice Cream Social.  We had about 35 people and it was a great success.  Don brought 4 large pans of boiled peanuts, we ate maybe 1/3 of them at church, but all were taken home by the Covenant boiled peanut lovers – so Don had 4 empty pans to take home with him!  Three folks also brought ice cream (although none was homemade), and the ice cream was a big hit as well.  Also, Rose brought a pound cake and it was all gone as well.  In a separate email, I will try and send some pictures from the event.

So it truly was a great day at Covenant!  May God bless your week, and hope to see you next Sunday.

Ron
