Covenant Update

Dear Covenant Family:

Today we had a great service at Covenant, with 31 members and friends in attendance.  Please note the attached bulletin from today’s service and note that our church ministry for September will be hurricane relief both for Idalia and for the awful fire enhanced by a hurricane in Lahaina on the island of Maui in Hawaii.  Also attached is the Covenant September calendar listing church birthdays and anniversaries as well as special events.

Our Prayer Requests for today were as follows.  Tina Pinkoson asked for prayers for a co-worker whose 16 year-old son was shot and killed recently at a party he was attending.  Mack Vlacos asked for prayers for his hospitalized brother Bobby.  Missy Mauldin asked for prayers for the adult son of a family in Los Moches, Mexico who is missing (note that Covenant Church was involved in a mission at the church in Los Moches about 20 years ago where this family attended).   Bill Mercado gave a Praise Request thanking Covenant for the cards and prayers that he received in the recent passing of his brother in NY.

Pastor Don’s sermon today was titled People and Their Excuses, and his scripture was from Luke 14:16-24.  The scripture gave examples of people who gave excuses for not attending a dinner to which they had been invited.  Pastor Don’s sermon compared that to how people make many excuses in their lives as well, which are as unjustified as the excuses given in the scripture.  Pastor Don concluded that there is still room for sinners to be saved, as noted in verse 22, for those who are willing.

If you missed church today, I encourage you to listen to Pastor Don’s sermon at https://gainesvillecovenantchurch.org/ and then choose Sermons on the home page, and then choose the sermon you want to hear.

If anyone would like to send a birthday wish to Marilyn Bishop, I am sure she would appreciate it since she cannot attend church anymore.  Her address is

5139 NW 80th Road

I wish everyone a very blessed and safe week ahead!
